A BIT ABOUT ME

Singing and Music have always been a central part of who I am.  Some of my most joyful memories are around making music and I can’t imagine a life without it. My music education began at home:  Surrounded by jazz and classical music as I grew up, I developed a good musical ear and was exposed to live and recorded music from an early age.

I always sang, but it was not until my early 20s that I had singing lessons.  Since then, I have had many wonderful teachers who inspired me, shared their wisdom, and carefully guided my own vocal journey.

As a performer, I am proud to have sung classical solos with orchestra and with choirs, given solo recitals, sung with jazz trios and close harmony ensembles and performed in a range of wonderful venues.

In 1998, having gained my teaching diploma (LTCL), I decided to take a leap of faith, and left my job in the City to become a professional musician and voice teacher.  I can honestly say I haven’t once looked back. Since that day, I’ve taught people of all ages and experience, in groups and one to one, and I still get a thrill when those seemingly “magical breakthroughs” of technique or understanding happen in a lesson.

Professionally, I am most proud of my prize-winning choirs and the vocal arrangements I've written for them, the performances I’ve created and MD’d, the positive and lasting connections I’ve built with students, parents and musical collaborators over the years, and of making music with so many talented artists.
